January 2008 - Northern Ireland Electricity - System Operator for Northern Ireland (NIE-SONI) has selected Powertech's Voltage Security Assessment Tool (VSAT) and Transient Security Assessment Tool (TSAT) for on-line use. NIE-SONI is responsible for the safe, secure and economic operation of the high voltage electricity grid in Northern Ireland and, via a joint venture with Eirgrid, is also responsible for running the new all-island wholesale market for electricity. NIE-SONI's on-line VSAT/TSAT system will be integrated with Areva EMS for real-time voltage and transient security assessment of its transmission system. AESO Selects VSAT for On-line Use

AESO is responsible for the safe, reliable and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System(AIES) and it facilitates Alberta's competitive wholesale electricity market, which has more than 200 participants and about $5 billion in annual energy transactions. NERC's mission is to improve the reliability and security of the bulk power system in North America.
